Sustainable Transition
Hycargo Logistics is committed to “transformation” into sustainable logistics, offering Environment-conscious transport and storage solutions while transitioning to green energy-powered vehicles across southern Africa.
Introduction to Green Energy Powered manufacturing
The transition to more sustainable energy sources has seen a significant rise in the availability and importance of green products such as green ammonia, hydrogen, and solar energy. These products are important for global and regional initiatives aimed at reducing industrial carbon emissions and shift towards cleaner energy solutions. Understanding their supply-chain is crucial for fostering a sustainable future. Namibia’s president Dr Netumbo Nanti Ndaitwa has made similar remarks recently at the opening of HyIron Oshivela plant, saying green produced “iron should remain green from its own production to steel, up to the manufacturing of vehicles”. To us this suggest that HyCargo has a global and regional role to contribute to such ambitions.
Some targets: Supply Chain Dynamics of Green Ammonia
Green ammonia, produced using renewable energy sources like wind and solar, is vital for agriculture. The supply chain for green ammonia involves several stages, from production through electrolysis to the final distribution to agricultural and industrial markets. Efficient and green energy powered transportation options, such as specialised shipping, road and rail systems, enable timely delivery while minimizing environmental impact.
Transportation Challenges for Hydrogen and Natural Gas
Hydrogen is heralded as a clean fuel for the future, yet its transportation presents unique challenges. It can be transported via pipelines or as liquid hydrogen, necessitating insulation and pressurisation to maintain its state. Alternatively, less CO2 emitting natural gas, particularly when sourced through green means, faces similar logistical hurdles, from extraction to pipeline distribution. Both require innovative approaches not to only ensure safety but also efficiency. This is where HyCargo Logistics is aiming to play a role. With limited infrastructure in southern Africa, road transport will continue to play a primary role that will lead to the full establishment of the industry before it can be transported through other infrastructures like pipelines, or to remote areas characterising SADC region.
Actionable strategy
Green Energy Initiatives
Our commitment to sustainable logistics reflects our transition to green energy-powered vehicles, enhancing efficiency while reducing products-carbon footprints from source to customers in southern Africa.
Local Produce Sourcing
We proudly partner with our sub-brand “Local Diet,” focusing on sourcing and delivering fresh local produce, promoting local farmers and reducing food-supply-miles through sustainable logistics.
Innovative Cooling Systems
HyCargo Logistics aims to integrate green-energy-powered cooling systems to reduce energy usage while preserving quality in temperature-controlled transport and storage, ensuring environmentally responsible and efficient logistical operations.
We aim to achieve that by finding and partnering with industry players across the world that are committed to green energy powered industry.
We are steps ahead in creating a realistic hydrogen service stations in key corridors in the region, starting in Namibia where stakeholders are at the blink of producing green hydrogen and converting hydrogen powered trucks.
